BELGRAVE winners of the 2014/’15 FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands, The Bean Project, is setting off on their Sprouts Tour next month.
The first serious tour from the duo will see them take their unique brand of folk, jazz and singer- songwriter genres around the country.
The vibrant brass-clad acoustic duo will be heading west to Port Arlington, Warrnambool and Adelaide as well as Ballarat, Bendigo, Phillip Island, Albury, Canberra, and Sydney.
One half of The Bean Project, Bryce Purcaton, said touring was great for the band but they felt like they were still growing.
“We are still just working and building,” he said.
Mr Purcaton said winning the Battle of the Bands competition was a big leap forward in the life of The Bean Project.
“The prize we won came with PR and CDs and recording time and all the kind of things.”
“It saved us from spending lots of money that we would have had to otherwise and it helped a lot.”
Featuring guitar and French horn, The Bean Project encompasses the territory of folk, jazz and singer- songwriter genres, showcasing a distinctly unique style of original material.
Mr Purcaton said the prospect of touring together was not something that he or band-mate Ben Langdon would shy away from.
“Last year over summer, we headed north up the east coast on a busking tour,” he said.
“It was like a little test tour and we got along fine.”
“This time we have actual gigs booked, I’m sure we’ll have great time,” he said.
Armed with their self-titled EP, The Bean Project will kick off their Sprouts Tour at The Wesley Anne in Northcote on Friday 11 December.
