Hotel family fun day to raise funds…

IT IS tipped to be one of the worst fire seasons in years, and those who will be at the coal face now need your help.
Firefighters from Upper Ferntree Gully and Ferntree Gully, with the support of the Middle Hotel will hold a Family Fun Day in November to raise funds for the upcoming fire season.
Upper Ferntree Gully CFA captain Peter Smith said that the day would include balloonists, face painting, a petting zoo as well as a jumping castle.
He said it would be a great opportunity for families to come together and enjoy the day, as well as support their local fire fighters.
“We just need some help for the upcoming fire season,” Mr Smith said.
“Both brigades need some new equipment; we’re always updating our equipment like hoses and things like that.
“It doesn’t sound like much, but it would make a big difference for the brigade.”
He said fire trucks and local fire fighters would also be there on the day, and happy to talk about preparing for the upcoming fire season.
Middle Hotel manager Marion Ritchie said she was proud to support the fund-raiser by providing the venue, and said that it was important as a local business to support the local CFA.
“We’re all community based out this way,” she said.
“We’re so pleased to be able to provide a family day as well as a cheap night out with some local entertainment too.”
The family day will run from noon until 5pm on Saturday 1 November at 1130 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully.
A gold coin donation will be greatly appreciated from those who attend.
There will also be a Ferntree Gully Idol talent competition held on the day, entry is $10 and those interested should contact ASV Academy at acoburn@bigpond.net.au .
An 18+ event will be held from 8pm, and will include a number of local bands.
Entry $5.
