IT WAS a dark, shadowy hot spot for graffiti – but the Upper Ferntree Gully CFA turned it into a highlight along the train line.
Captain Peter Smith said that the brigade was aware the dark alley behind its fire station between the train line was an area that was not too pretty.
So members got together, removed shrubs and trees and enlisted the help of a local graffiti artist to give the wall a makeover.
“We were able to secure some funding from the Knox Council and get a local guy to create a mural,” Cpt Smith said.
“It really looks fantastic, we’ve had so much interest from people who travel past on the train, and those walking along the tracks on the way to the 1000 steps.”
